Privacy policy
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no trackers.
- Everything you log stays on your phone. There is no slowcarb server, so we never receive it.
- With your own Claude key, the photos and words you ask Claude to read go straight from your phone to Anthropic, and nowhere else.
What stays on your phone
slowcarb keeps everything you log in its private storage on your phone: your plates and their photos, your weigh-ins and waist measurements, your reason, your cheat-day list, your squats and streak, your before and Day 30 photos, and your settings. Other apps cannot read it, and we have no copy of it.
What leaves your phone, and when
Claude, with your own key (optional)
If you add your own Anthropic API key in Settings, slowcarb sends these to Anthropic’s API, directly from your phone, for Claude to read:
- a plate photo, to judge the plate, or a typed plate’s name when it has no photo;
- a craving photo, to name the craving;
- a menu photo, to pick your order.
With a plate photo it also sends:
- the names on your cheat-day list, so a plate that is one of them can come off the list;
- whether today is your cheat day;
- the move you are trying at that meal, if any.
Before a photo goes, slowcarb shrinks it and saves it again as a new image, which drops its metadata, such as where it was taken. Your weight, waist, reason, body photos, and glucose readings are never sent.
Anthropic handles these requests under your own account, its terms, and its privacy policy. Your key is encrypted with a key that never leaves your phone, and you can remove it in Settings at any time. Without a key, nothing is sent.
Health Connect (optional)
If you connect a glucose sensor on the Playbook’s glucose card, slowcarb reads your blood glucose readings from the last day through Health Connect to draw your curve. It reads blood glucose only, keeps no copy, sends it nowhere, and never writes to Health Connect. The use of information received from Health Connect will adhere to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Sharing
When you share a card (your week, your Day 30, or an invite), slowcarb draws an image with its numbers, such as plates logged, squat sets, streak, and pounds lost, and hands it to Android’s share sheet. It goes only where you send it. Photos are never on a card.
Your phone’s backup
If Android backup is on, Android can include slowcarb’s log and settings in your phone’s backup to your Google account, only when the backup is end-to-end encrypted (your phone has a screen lock), and in a transfer to a new phone. Photos and your Claude key are always left out.
What we don’t do
No account, no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting, no tracking, and no selling or sharing of data. slowcarb has no server of its own: nothing you log reaches us.
Permissions
- Camera: to snap plates, cravings, menus, and your before and Day 30 photos.
- Notifications, alarms and reminders, full-screen alarm, vibration: squat reminders that climb from a notification to a buzz to an alarm, and the meal-time reminders.
- Run at startup: to put your reminders back after the phone restarts.
- Internet: only for Claude, when you add a key.
- Health Connect, blood glucose (read): only if you connect a sensor.
- Photos: picking a photo for a typed plate uses Android’s photo picker, which hands over only the photo you choose.
Deleting your data
- Delete a plate from its sheet. A plate deleted for good takes its photo with it.
- Remove your Claude key in Settings at any time.
- To delete everything, open Android Settings, then Apps, slowcarb, Storage, and tap Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Either one removes the log and every photo from your phone.
We hold none of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete or hand over.
Children
slowcarb is made for adults and is not directed at children.
